The 18th century Summer Resort or Monsoon Palace of the Maharajas, Sajjangarh Fort is situated on a hill above the Fateh Sagar Lake. Built in 1884 by Maharaja Sajjan Singh in his name, Sajjangarh Fort is located about 5 km west of the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. The fort stands today as a small palace, surrounded by beautiful surroundings, where both car and boat can be reached.

History

Sajjangarh Fort near Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan was built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh. The fort was built by Maharana as an observatory, which will facilitate the progress of monsoon clouds in the surrounding areas. Therefore, the palace is sometimes called the Monsoon Palace Udaipur. It isn't believed that Maharana Sajjan Singh planned to build a 9-storey observatory at the site, but his dream could not be fulfilled due to his untimely death at the age of 26. Sajjangarh Fort near Udaipur is situated on a hilltop at an altitude of 3100 feet above sea level and about 1100 feet from Fateh Sagar Lake. The palaces of the fort look like a tiara at the head of a rocky hill, on top of which the fort stands prominently. The stone is spacious and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills, beautiful lakes and ice-white palaces.

The Sajjangarh Palace has bastions, in each of which the minarets are controlled. The palace has a grand central staircase and several rooms and quarters. In the lower level of the palace is a galley that killed the victims and invaders who were poisoned and hanged in the house.

To the left of Sajjangarh Fort in Rajasthan, Shikarbadi or Khas Odi - is the hunting lodge of the royal family of Mewar. There is dense forest on the hill, and Sajjangarh Fort near Udaipur overlooks the rugged forest of a magnificent wildlife sanctuary.
